J
J is a UK-based lived-experience advocate whose journey from victim of modern slavery to nationally recognised anti-trafficking campaigner continues to inspire communities across the country.
After surviving exploitation, J rebuilt her life in the United Kingdom and transformed her experience into powerful advocacy. She now works with Hestia, one of the UK’s leading charities supporting victims of Human Trafficking and Modern Slavery, where she contributes to front line support, awareness campaigns, and survivor empowerment programmes.
J’s story has reached national audiences. She has participated in television news features, public awareness campaigns, and volunteering initiatives that highlight the realities of exploitation and the resilience of survivors. Her courage has brought her into conversations with senior public figures, including the former Home Secretary and Princess Eugenie, who has long championed anti-slavery work. A defining moment in her advocacy came when J’s case was used during the launch of the Modern Slavery Act 2015, marking her experience as part of the national effort to strengthen protections for victims.
Today, J stands as a testament to what survival, determination, and community support can achieve. Her message is simple but powerful:
If J can come through this journey and rise to become an advocate, others can too.
