Kimberley Hutchison

Kimberley is a lived experience consultant and policy specialist with a background in environmental science and extensive expertise in modern slavery, exploitation, and trauma-informed practice. Her work with the Anti-Trafficking Monitoring Group (ATMG) and ASI marked the beginning of a four-year period in which she received comprehensive training across UK and international policy, building on her scientific analysis skills to become highly effective in research and policy development.

She became the first British national with lived experience to actively contribute to government policy decision-making and served as a member of the Modern Slavery Strategy Implementation Group. Kimberley is the author or co-author of more than 15 research reports and publications and has advised government and parliamentary ministers, UN Special Rapporteurs, national and local inquiries, and legislative processes. She has also supported television and radio documentaries and delivers training across a wide range of sectors.

Kimberley’s areas of expertise include ethical lived experience co-production and engagement; modern slavery, human trafficking and exploitation; policy and strategy development; gang criminology; gender-based violence; child exploitation; sex work and prostitution; and life-long multiple disadvantage.

​

She holds extensive accredited training, including trauma-informed practice, safeguarding, mental health first aid, child protection, LGBTQ+ inclusion, unconscious bias, and more. Kimberley is currently completing a Master of Laws (LLM) in Human Rights and Diplomacy at the University of Stirling in partnership with UNITAR.
