Sarah Sanabria
Sarah Sanabria is the Projects Lead at Align Ltd, where she oversees projects that place lived experience at the heart of ethical practice. Sarah’s role spans project management, welfare support for Lived Experience Consultants (LECs), delivery of Modern Slavery signs-spotting training, bid writing, and supporting businesses to understand the value of lived experience inclusion. Through this work, Sarah helps organisations access the unique insights of LECs to create more informed, ethical, and sustainable practices, reducing the risk of exploitation in their business and supply chains.
With a background in frontline support for survivors of modern slavery - spanning one-to-one casework, outreach, safe house support, and health and wellbeing programmes- Sarah takes a trauma-informed and person-centred approach to all aspects of their work.
Sarah has secured significant funding for anti-slavery and lived experience projects from major funders including the United Nations Voluntary Trust Fund for Victims of Trafficking in Persons (UNVTF), the Barclays 100x100 Covid-19 Community Relief Fund, the Swire Charitable Trust, and the Garfield Weston Foundation.
Over the last 10 years, Sarah has also helped to facilitate survivor voices within research and policy development, contributing to projects with the University of Nottingham, University of Liverpool, MSPEC, and the Home Office. Ensuring that lived experience insight continues to shape policy, practice, and research across the modern slavery and business sectors.
