MD

Md is a law graduate (LLB, Northumbria Law School, 2.1) with lived experience of the UK asylum system and modern slavery. He successfully challenged Home Office policy through judicial review, changing national policy on higher education access for asylum seeker.


With Align, Md has contributed to multiple projects including modern slavery site assessments, the Greater Manchester Combined Authority's review of partnership responses to human trafficking, and the evaluation of refugee integration programmes. He was selected as a mentor recently for the Refugee Council's Career Development Programme, supporting other lived experience professionals in developing their careers in the sector.


Beyond his consultancy work, Md serves as an Accredited Mediator, Lay Observer for the Ministry of Justice, and Trustee for the Causeway charity ( A largest service provider of the victims of modern slavery and trafficking int he UK). He was a volunteer advisor with Support Through Court and Citizens Advice helping vulnerable clients with the court system and benefits. 
 

Fluent in Bengali, Urdu, Hindi, and Portuguese (intermediate), Md is passionate about ensuring that refugee and survivor voices don't just inform policy—they shape it. He believes lived experience should be recognised as professional expertise, not unpaid labour.


In his work with Align, Md focuses on ensuring that research and service design are trauma-informed, culturally competent, and according to service user requirements as a lived experienced person . His unique combination of legal training and lived experience enables him to bridge the gap between policy requirements and lived reality.
Md's approach is clear: "I want to ensure that survivors don't just inform policy—we lead it."
